NEW BANNER

As you can see I have a nice new banner that I am thankful for my friend from The Collective Mind blog created for my blog. Many thanks to Greg & his creativity along with my input for what I wanted to showcase on it. As you can see the Buckeyes logo as well the 4 major sports league logos.

The story about the people featured in the banner you can see they're people who I collect in my PC with the exception of Archie Griffin. Archie is featured for being the only 2 time winner of the Heisman Trophy plus he won 1 of the awards as a senior at The Ohio State University back in 1975. I hope someday I can meet with him & if I ever do you'll be sure to that I'll be sure to post it up on here.

As for Herb Washington I'm a master collector of his cards. According to the Tradingcarddb.com site he has 4 cards in his collection. That being the 1975 Regular sized Topps card #407, the 1975 Topps Mini card #407, the 1975 O Pee Chee card #407, & most recently the 2024 Topps Heritage buyback also numbered #407. I own 2 of each of the cards with the exception of the buyback but that doesn't mean if someone has an extra I wouldn't pass it up.  If you aren't familiar with the Herb Washington story he was signed by Charlie O Finley owner of the Oakland Athletics to be an exclusive Pinch Runner. He played parts of 2 seasons with the Athletics 1974 & 1975 earning a card in the 1975 sets. He has a world series ring for his part in the 1974 world series. He also has the distinction of being involved with a famous play in game 2 that involved 3 alumni members of Michigan State University. The scene was Herb was on first base guarded by first Baseman Steve Garvey on the mound was Dr. Mike Marshall. Marshall picked Herb off attempting to steal 2nd base.

The Joe Nuxhall part is simple he made his way to the Major League record books when he made his debut on June 10th 1944 a good 31 years before a certain blogger/collector was born. At the age of 15 years old Joe took the mound pitching 2/3 of inning against the St. Louis Cardinals. Later Joe became a broadcaster for the Cincinnati Reds known as the Old Left-hander.

Ernie Harwell part I will reveal when I get a chance more in detail on his profile page that I have within my links on my site here.

Again I want to thank Greg for creating the banner now I hope to hear from my readers tell me what you think about it.

STILL SORTING

Well I  just found out that I have to work instead of being setting up for a show on Saturday. Regardless the result of working I still am sorting through the basketball boxes so that can be ready for the next time. It's a never ending process. Just throwing it out to my readers if you're needing any early to mid 90s basketball lmk & I'll see if I can assist you with what I have on hand.

Once I finished the basketball I'll be starting on another 20 3200ct boxes of football singles. Then baseball then eventually hockey. I wish I could show all the boxes I have to work on but it's just the fun in helping others hopefully someone can help me.

There's 1 set I have a lot of that is the `90/`91 Hoops set & I still haven't seen card #249 Terry Porter no NBA Logo on the back of the card if someone has it I'm willing to trade for it. Until then I have to get back to sorting just remember the quote from Rogers Hornsby "Any ballplayer who doesn't sign Autographs for little kids ain't an American. He's a communist."

SORTING THROUGH BOXES & BOXES

I am currently sorting through a bunch of 3200ct boxes trying to figure out which boxes do I want to take to the show this Saturday. As well putting them in correct order hence they previously weren't in any order. I acquired these boxes by either purchasing them from a local shop to having me dump their collections to me. In some ways I like going through boxes like this its worth the treasure hunt.

I guess I am one of a few people that will go through these boxes in hopes to find that 1 exclusive card that most have been looking for on their lists. It also amazes me with my lists of needs not many want to take the time to search. I know that I am not a mojo hunter when it comes to collecting. I take pride in making sets or finding that key card again. With 23 Basketball boxes alone to find things sure there's no major stars like Michael Jordan,Kobe Bryant,LeBron James,etc.....sure some of is from the early to mid 90s but just looking at some of the names I am surprised in knowing many things about these players.

The one reason I started this blog is to open up to get more traders to mail me stuff that I need & I return have stuff that they been looking for as well. Anyways I had to take a break to post this post & I need to get it posted then get back to the grind before I head off to Dreamland. So I guess I better get back to work. With that said just remember Rogers Hornsby famous quote "Any ballplayer who doesn't sign autographs for kids ain't an American. He's a communist."

AFTER ARRIVING HOME

After I arrived home from visiting my friend from The Collective Mind blog I was busy putting away my new additions to my set needs as well getting back to the grind of working at 1 of my multiple jobs. Once I finished my shift came home to relax to settle my affairs with my girlfriend of 9 years a quick bite when I can before I work on my blog, updating my Neverending lists of needs as well chores around the house. Somehow it amazes me I find time to eat & sleep as well work on stuff. Yet still not good enough for satisfying others.

I try my best to get as much I can accomplish that's after picking up a bunch of stuff I still haven't have yet to unpack items that I haven't put away since my girlfriend & I moved to this house going on 4 years next year. I try as well to do things to accommodate her yet I still get criticized for not doing anything right. I know what you saying that I just am preaching to the choir & most us are in the same place. I get it but just upsets me that heavenly forbid I do anything right. I just like to relax when I get a rare day off from work or come back home after a long trip.

I have to get things ready for an upcoming show that I am setting up for on Saturday. I don't know what to expect since this is the 1st time that this show is going on. I know that I won't have much that someone might want but again I hope that I have that 1 thing someone's been trying to find as well.

Well I believe that I better get going otherwise I will never get my stuff done. Till then remember what Rogers Hornsby once said "Any ballplayer who doesn't sign Autographs for a little kids isn't an American. He is a communist."

HEADING HOME FROM SPENDING TIME AWAY

Well tomorrow on June 23rd Ill be on my way back home to Michigan. I been visiting fellow blogger & great friend from The Collective Mind Blog. We spent 10 days together going to shops, antique stores, to finally the CSA Show in Chantilly,Va. I was able to find some great things as well as meet up with a former Negro League ballplayer named Pedro Sierra (Stay Tuned for a post about him). The trip home will be an 8 hour drive back. I am not looking forward to the long journey but, I am going back with great memories.

One of my highlights was being able to crack open a case of 2024 Topps Heritage hopefully Greg will post about it & showcase some great pictures from our break. Another highlight was completing my '77/'78 O-Pee-Chee WHA set.

Well time for me to log on out get some rest before my travels back home. Till then remember that Rogers Hornsby quote "Any ballplayer who doesn't sign autographs for kids Ain't an American. He's a communist."

Welcome to Bad Buckeye Bloods Tavern

Welcome to the 1st of many interesting posts about the world of Sports Card collecting. I'm your host POISON75. I look forward to hearing from people who read blogs about card collecting & when your done reading you might have learned an interesting tidbit of trivia as well a better insight of my views on the hobby as I see it.

Now here's the origin of the Bad Buckeyes Blood Tavern name. The Bad part is I'm bad luck in finding stuff according to some dealers, traders,& friends. The Buckeyes is simple I'm a huge fan of THE OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY you'll learn & even though I live in the state as Buckeye fans call the state Up North I will bash the team wearing Corn & Bleah(Blue) from time to time if I feel like it's time to do it. Now as for the Tavern part I have always wanted to own my own Bar & Grill. As a bartender I'll listen to you critics as long ya understand that I follow this rule at the Tavern #1. The bartender makes the rules #2. See Rule #1.

Now I am a set builder. You will be able to find my wantlists on this site. If you have anything, drop me a note at Sportscardforum.com. Look for BSEBALLCOMMISH75 & let me know what you have for me & we'll figure out how to make a deal.  I dabble in all 4 sports in my set building.

There might be contests to win cards as well some other things. I have a series of posts that will be called "CHA-CHING" moments. In those posts you'll see that I know way more information about baseball and a few other areas of sports. For example, the game called the Immaculate Grid in baseball. You might think you can get a lower extreme rare score, but I'll likely have you beat with my score & you'll be like: "He sure knows his stuff."

Thanks for allowing me to serve you at the Tavern till then remember Rogers Hornsby once was quoted "Any ballplayer who doesn't sign Autographs ain't an American he's a communist."
