ABOUT ME

Greetings! Some of you might like to know a little more about me, my collection and the reasoning behind the name of this site. Well, I started collecting back in 1978 when I was 3 years old. Ever since then I have amassed a lot of cards into my collection. We're talking about over 1 Billion cards. I am sorry if ya would like to find a tradelist, the truth is I don't have the man hours to compile one. Some of you would like to know why I'm called BSEBALLCOMMISH75 on the message board site SCF. For those that don't know what that is...

So sit back and enjoy why I am named that on there as well as the origin of my site name.

First comes the story of behind the name BAD BUCKEYE BLOOD. I am a huge fan of The Ohio State University. Hence the BUCKEYE part of the name - simple eh? Anyway, the Bad part comes from when I would go to a show or a shop I would have huge wantlists of needs. If you haven't seen those lists, there are links to them on the top of this page. So as I was saying I have these lists and this is way before I would have access to a website to show them on so the dealers would consider me BAD LUCK because they wouldn't have any of the singles I needed to complete my sets. They would offer me something else to work on, hence the other reason I would draw BLOOD on them cause of not having anything. The TAVERN part came about because I always wanted to own my Bar&Grill. It's still a dream but what can ya do eh stop collecting entirely?...........NAH!!!!!!! Its just not going to happen. Well there ya have it, the complete history of the name behind the place.

Now the story behind BSEBALLCOMMISH75 is simple. I have always thought of myself as an avid fan of the game of baseball and most people would agree that I have extensive knowledge of the sport too. Plus, someone at SCF had the name I wanted to use already, so my second choice was BASEBALLCOMMISH75. Well that was too many letters so I decided to shorten it.

Here are some of my special cards in my collection and a brief description of what makes these items so special to me. Please don't ask me for them cause I am not selling any of the items shown since they meant something to me through the years. Unless you have the right amount I won't even listen to any offers.

This is a complete set of 2001 Upper Deck Decade 1970's single bat pieces. It's 1 of 97 since there are only 97 of the Tug McGraw bat card. I started to make this set back in 2001 and had it finally completed in 2003. I had a lot of people help me find or trade for the 48 cards ya see before you. The last card I needed for this set was the Tom Seaver Short Print since there are only like 121 of them. I was glad to complete this set because besides completing this set I felt like I really made the decade that I was born a good accomplishment.

Uncut sheet of 1976/77 O-Pee-Chee hockey Bryan Trottier RC is on the lower left row corner 2nd card in. I got it for a very good price from an auction ($1.00) along with some other uncut sheets.

A Babe Ruth card I pulled from a blaster box of the 2016 Leaf Babe Ruth. Numbered 1/3, it's a piece of bat from his years with the Yankees. After pulling it I made the comment to some of my collecting friends that I'll be a Monkeys Uncle.

This is a game used jersey of former Astros manager Brad Mills (171 Wins 274 Losses in 445 Games of 3 Years of managing the Astros from 2010 to 2012). that was sent to me along with a ball (autographed by 2015 American League Cy Young award winner Dallas Keuchel on a the sweet spot)

1994 Upper Deck All-Time Heroes Mickey Mantle autograph.

This card I pulled from a box - 2nd pack - back in July of 1998. The box was picked by my mother for $20 - thats right I paid $20 for the box - not knowing that this had a Mantle inside waiting for me to find. It was the highlight of my day but later on I learned that out of the 3 boxes I had to pick from, one of them yielded a George Brett autograph from the same set. I was crushed. I could've had 2 Autographs in 2 boxes. Well, needless to say I eventually got the Brett autograph and now if anyone knows or has a 1994 Upper Deck All-Time Heroes Autograph with the matching Certificate card like this of Reggie Jackson let me know I might be interested in buying or trading for it. Thanks!

Number 5 out of 7. I pulled this card from a 2007 Topps Series I blaster box which blew me away.  I added it to my collection to go with his autograph I pulled earlier that you read about above.

2010 Topps Mickey Mantle Game Relic Bat card #'d  40/61 to match the total of the Home Runs Mickey hit in 1960. I pulled this in a Hobby box back in 2010. Giving me a total of 1 Autograph and 2 Game Used Bat pieces of Mantle in my collection.

Was very excited to pull this Stevie Y redemption out of Leaf Certified.  A nice autograph of the greatest Red Wing captain of all time!

Got lucky again with 2010-11 Donruss hockey with this autograph of the league's most dynamic player, Alex Ovechkin its #'d 09/25 I just missed his jersey # by 1 card.

2003 Donruss Team Heroes Timelines Yogi Berra #'d 47/47. This card is special to me in several ways.
First, I pulled this card out of a box that I purchased at a retail store back in 2004 - the year after it was released. It came from a hobby box of the 2003 Donruss Team Heroes.  What makes the box special?  Not only did this card emerge from it but it also yielded me a Phil Rizzuto Autograph which was a nice surprise 'cause I was thinking that I got the hit with the Yogi and I double dipped. But that's not all!  If you click on the card you can see what I have questions about.  You can clearly see a pinstripe running horizonally on the card and a cloth patch like material running vertically. I took this card to get it expertly looked at by the good folks back at Donruss at my second National and they couldn't give me any clear answer. My opinon is its either part of the NY emblem of the Yankees or part of the #35 that Yogi wore his rookie season and not part of his famous #8.

Autographed edition of Jackie Robinson: An Intimate Portrait. Signed by his widow Rachel Robinson who does not sign many items.

Beckett Monthly #1 autographed by Dr. James Beckett.
I started collecting these magazines back in 1992. I currently have every single Baseball and Hockey issue including some of the hard to locate regional issues that were distrubuted in other parts of the States (and in Canada as the case may be for some of the hockey issues). I got this autographed via a fellow collector named Jon Wise who met Dr. Beckett at a convention seminar in one of the famous Kit Young Hawaiian shows.

So in July 2002 I went to my first National Sports Card Convention in hopes to tell the good folks at Beckett about my accomplishment of having all these issues. Unbeknownst to me, Dr. Beckett was attending the same show but was in a meeting at the moment. The staff at Beckett told Dr. Beckett that an avid collector wanted to meet him. Once his meeting was through he agreed. When he emerged out of the meeting he met that collector. I told him I'd like to get my picture taken with him and he gladly did. You can see that picture on my site under the heading People I Have Met. I got him to verify that his signature was legit on the cover of my #1.  Then as a surprise, Dr. Beckett presented to me the 2002 Beckett Almanac issue #7 fresh from the printing press (a $35.00 book) for free. I am in the process of asking for recommendations to feature me in a story for collecting all these Becketts through the years. Its been a hard task to keep up but I manage when I can. If I get featured, I will no doubt will post that article and photos if some are taken on this site. So please spread the word I like to have others know about this rare accomplishment.
