IF I KNEW THAT IT WAS THAT EASY......

As many of my readers know back in December I started the 1968 Topps set a set I thought I would struggle if I ever made it considering that its been since 1990 I have had the dubious task in getting my 1967 set complete (Damn Ed Spiezio Rubbed out name still alludes me if ya want to have me not talk about Ed anymore do me a favor it buy the card for me & send to me). Also you know if ya been reading my blog I am down to 99 cards not counting the 33 Insert set. If I knew that I would be this easy so far to complete it I would have started the 1968 set back in the mid 1990s & no later than 2020 but then my dealer friend Mike didn't have the starter lot for me to do anything on it so I am glad to be getting closer to completing it even though its still in its infancy being 3 months into building it. As I reflect on the first 3 months in making this set will I accomplish it less time or not I just have to wait & see.

I just realized today would have been my little brother Ethan's 47th Birthday its been over a year & I still can't believe he's watching over me in making this set as many of you readers remember when I wrote the about the 1988 Topps card Turn Back the Clock of Bob Gibson being the one of the famous cards I normally would pull no matter what type of packaging I bought in 1988 (See my post on February 19th 2025) but the card featured was the 1968 card I am glad to say I am thankful I don't have to hunt down the regular card for my set due to my friend Greg of The Collective Mind Blog presented it to me when he came for his surprise visit in December.  When I placed it within its spot at card #100 in the 9-pocket sleeve.

The 1968 set once I complete it will more than likely be my last vintage set that I'll build in baseball so my oldest set will be my 1960 Fleer set unless Mike sets me up with a starter & fingers cross he doesn't come across a huge lot like he did with the 68s but of either 65s or 69s & I don't have to locate any of the hard to find RCs of certain players as well in the case of the 69 set that Nolan Ryan is in already as well anyother key players that are about 3 figures or more in price.  As many of you know I normally end some of my posts with Rogers Hornsby quote so this time I want to wish my late brother Ethan instead a Happy 47th Birthday & dedicate this post in honor of him for I believe I heard his voice in December once Mike called my bluff on the starter lot with him saying "Why Not give it a run Older brother after all if ya never get the Gibson ya could always use the TBC card" then he would do his casual smirk that is made famous by my surname male members that includes my distant cousins Burt & Ryan & of course yours truly when he was with Gordie Howe & then he do his signature chuckle thanks Ethan for being the influencer on me making the 1968 Topps set.
